Celine Dion's modern day song compared to John Donne's 16th century poem
It is amazing how a couple hundred years difference can still bring about similar love songs. This goes for the song by Celine Dion and the poem by John Donne. The song by Dion talks about how much love her and another person have, but they are not together. The poem by Donne has to deal with how he has so much love for this woman, but she does not treat him very well and she plays with his heart emotionally. Even though this woman batters his heart, he still will always be in love with her.
The main difference that I found in looking at these two pieces is that even though they both talk about love. The way that love is being used is different. In Dion's song she talks about how two people love each other dearly but just can't be together because of some kind of distance. In Donne's poem he is love with another woman, but it does not sound like she has the same kind of love for him, which is hurting him.
